Dr Nicholas Ong is the recipient of many international prizes, including First Prize at the Yvonne Lefébure International Piano Competition in France and finalist at the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition in Switzerland. Lauded by the New York Times for his "firm rubber-ball touch and bounce" and by Le Figaro for his "astonishing virtuosity," his performances have captivated audiences across the United States, Europe, and Asia.

He has appeared in major concert venues such as Alice Tully Hall and Miller Theatre in New York, Salle Gaveau and Salle Cortot in Paris, the Seoul Arts Center and the Tainan Cultural Centre. His festival appearances include the Castleton Festival, Focus! Festival in New York, Chopin Festival in Paris, Festival de l’Orangerie, Jeunes Pianistes Virtuoses (Lyon), Piano en Saintonge (Cognac), and the Villa Medicis Festival in Rome. A committed advocate for contemporary music, he has performed at the Soundbridge Contemporary Music Festival (Malaysia), the China-ASEAN Contemporary Music Festival (Nanning), and the Third Practice Electroacoustic Music Festival (Virginia, USA). As a versatile chamber musician, he has collaborated in chamber concerts with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra musicians, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts faculty chamber concerts, and concert tours with principals of major orchestras and young talented musicians.

Dr. Ong earned his Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from The Juilliard School. He previously studied at the École Normale de Musique de Paris on a French Government Scholarship, and received his Master of Music from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Nicholas Ong is Head of Keyboard at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts Singapore. He is a sought-after pedagogue and a frequent guest faculty member at the Asia International Piano Academy Festival in South Korea. He has served on the jury of numerous competitions, including the Singapore International Young Pianist Competition, Steinway Youth Piano Competition, Music Singapore International Competition, Singapore Raffles International Music Festival, ASEAN International Chopin Piano Competition (Malaysia), ASA-BIMA International Piano Competition and the Elyon National Music Competition (Indonesia).
