Hee Jung Choi, a Korean pianist residing in Malaysia, obtained her Master’s degree from Western Illinois University (WIU), where she was awarded the Graduate Assistant Award. While at WIU, she won the Concerto Competition—first as a soloist one year, and then as part of a trio ensemble the following year. Subsequently, she was admitted to the postgraduate program at the University of Iowa as a recipient of the prestigious John Simms Piano Award.


Prior to this, Miss Choi gained extensive performance experience as both a soloist and chamber musician. While at WIU, she was selected to tour with the University Wind Ensemble. She also served as the official Suzuki collaborative pianist for the Western Illinois area during its Centennial Celebration Concert.


In Malaysia, she has collaborated with local musicians and participated in the 1st Asia Grand Piano Concert held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. She has also been invited to adjudicate various competitions, including The Asia Music Competition, the Hong Kong Youth Performing Arts Festival, KAE E-Artium Piano Competition, Graceful Piano Competition and Festival in Malaysia, as well as The Symphonia, Star Quarto, and Elyon’s Piano Competitions held in Surabaya, Indonesia.


She has taught at Universiti Malaya (UM) and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), and is currently on the piano faculty at UCSI University.
