P’ng Tean Hwa
Jury Chair

P’ng Tean Hwa is Professor and Director of the Institute of Music at UCSI University, where he has served since 1997. At UCSI University, he is a long-standing member of the University Examination Board, a member of the University Council in 2016–2020, and the Chair of the Senate Learning and Teaching Committee in 2007–2010. He was pivotal in establishing UCSI University’s International Piano Festival and Competition as well as the Piano Pedagogy Conference, which are held biennially in alternate years since 2014.

Edith Widayani

Hailed as one of the most accomplished young pianists in her home country of Indonesia, Dr. Edith Widayani has established herself as performing solo artist, chamber musician, and music educator, with appearances in North, Central, and South Americas, Europe, and Asia.

Gabriel Kwok

Gabriel Kwok is Professor at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and has been Head of Keyboard Studies since 1989. A Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music in London, he has given many masterclasses internationally including at the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music, Guildhall School of Music, Hannover Hochschule für Musik und Theater, Eastman School of Music, Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Peabody Institute and Yale School of Music.

Le Ho Hai

Pianist Le Ho Hai began piano lessons with Professor Thai Thi Lien and graduated with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance from the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Professor Tran Thanh Thao.

Liao Chiao-han

All-around pianist Liao Chiao-han, a native of Taiwan, is an active performer of solo and chamber music throughout the United States, Taiwan, Japan, and Finland. Ms. Liao is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, the Juilliard School and Yale School of Music. She participated in XIV International Frederic Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 2000, and Internationaler Musikwettbewerb der ARD Munchen in 2002.

Lim Chan Kiat

Chan Kiat Lim has performed solo and chamber recitals in Canada, China, Germany, Greece, Italy, Jamaica, Malaysia, Romania, and throughout the United States including solo performances at Music at Penn Alps Concert Series in Maryland and twice at Steinway Hall, New York City.

Ning An

Pianist Ning An is a rare pianist who has been hailed as a musician who "combines a flawless technique and mastery of the instrument with an expressive power that is fueled by profound and insightful understanding." (New York Concert Review) His top prizes from the Queen Elizabeth, Santander, and William Kapell Piano Competitions led to performances at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall, Salle Verdi (Milan), National Centre for the Performing Arts (Beijing, China), and many more.

Cheong Yew Choong

Cheong Yew Choong holds his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate Degrees from West Virginia University (USA) under full scholarship and graduate assistantship. His teachers include Prof. Dr. Peter Amstutz and Prof. Dr. P’ng Tean Hwa. Despite hearing impairment, Yew Choong is a prizewinner of several competitions: Music Teachers National Association Collegiate Artist Piano Competition in the State of West Virginia

Amanda Lee Hing

Dr. Amanda Lee Hing is an accomplished pianist and a dedicated educator. She is currently the Assistant Music Department Chair and Professor of Piano at Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) in Texas, U.S.A. Her previous academic roles include faculty positions at Washington and Jefferson College in Pennsylvania and Glenville State University in West Virginia.

Yuling Huang-Davie

Dr. Yuling Huang-Davie is an Assistant Professor who heads the collaborative piano program in the School of Music and Performing Arts at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. She earned her doctorate in Collaborative Piano from Florida State University, where she was an assistant music coach for the Florida State Opera. Professor Huang-Davie earned her Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory in Virginia after graduating in Piano Performance at Xi'an Conservatory (China) with a baccalaureate.

Khoo Khe Sin

Khoo Khe Sin received her B.Mus. degree from UCSI University with a certification from the University of Newcastle (Australia), as well as her M.M. and D.M.A. degrees from West Virginia University (USA). Her teachers include Prof. Dr. Peter Amstutz and Prof. Dr. Tean Hwa P’ng.

Morag Yong

Morag Yong was born in Kuching, Malaysia. She entered the Royal College of Music (RCM), London to study piano with Peter Element. After graduating with First Class and also obtaining the ARCM Teaching Diploma, Morag continued at RCM to obtain the Master of Music degree in Performance Studies. Whilst at college, she won numerous prizes including the Marjorie & Arnold Ziff Prize for the most outstanding Graduation Recital. Her education in London has been made possible with the generous support of the Sarawak Foundation, The Countess of Munster Musical Trust and The Charles Napper Trust.

Su-yen Chee

Malaysian pianist Su-yen Chee has established herself both as a soloist and chamber musician. She has given solo and collaborative recitals in the United States, Hong Kong, Japan, China, Korea, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

Jaz Tan

Jaz Tan graduated from University of Western Ontario, Canada with a Master of Music degree under full scholarship and graduate assistantship. She specializes in piano, harp and aural skills education. She was formerly Assistant Professor, working as the Head of Classical Music Degree Program in UCSI University, Kuala Lumpur. She now works as adjunct lecturer coaching piano at the university. She is also appointed the

Lim Pei Sien

Lim Pei Sien is known for her aptitude to collaborate well with other musicians. She has performed in recitals and music festivals in Malaysia, Brunei, Thailand, Austria and the USA as a chamber musician as well as a soloist.

Ho Su Han

Ho Su Han is currently a lecturer at the UCSI Institute of Music where she also serves as the chamber music coordinator. She was the vice chairperson of the 3rd Piano Pedagogy Conference at UCSI in 2023. Outside of UCSI, Su Han had conducted guest lectures on the topics of collaborative piano and chamber music in University Malaya and University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She was also a piano presenter for Trinity College London (Malaysia) from 2021-2024

Leong Mann Yee

Leong Mann Yee is a Master of Philosophy (Performance) graduate from the Royal Northern College of Music, who obtained her Master of Music from Birmingham Conservatoire. Her teaching area focuses on piano, music theory, aural, ensemble coaching and music research. She was previously an Assistant Professor and Head of the Foundation in Music program at UCSI University, Institute of Music.

Chiew Zhi Hong

Hailing from Kajang, Chiew Zhi Hong's musical journey began when he was enrolled into Yamaha's Junior Music Course (JMC) at age 4, under Mr Gary Wong. He was the youngest in his class when he continued with the Junior Special Advanced Course (JSAC) and finishing at age 14 with the Special Advanced Course (SAC) and a Yamaha Grade 5 teaching certification under the tutelage of Mr Lim Hock Seng.

Heah Zi-Ling

Born and raised in Penang, Dr Heah Zi-Ling is currently a Full-Time Lecturer in Music at UCSI University. Zi-Ling received her Doctoral and Master's degrees in Piano Performance from West Virginia University and Bowling Green State University in the USA. Prior to pursuing her studies in the USA, she also graduated with a bachelor’s degree in law.

Ysan Suit Yin

Assistant Professor Ysan Suit Yin is the Head of the Classical Music Degree at UCSI University. She is a very dedicated teacher, and her academic achievements are mainly in teaching, ATCL (Teaching), LTCL (Teaching), LRSM (Teaching) and she was one of the first in Southeast Asia to be awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Schools of Music (FRSM) in teaching.
